Bill would hold infant formula manufacturers responsible for contaminated products

A U.S. representative has introduced legislation to improve the safety of infant formula. It would, among other things, require companies to inform the FDA of positive tests for pathogens.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-CN, introduced the Infant Formula Safety Modernization Act in the wake of the infant botulism outbreak that sickened 48 babies, sending all of them to hospitals for inpatient treatment.
