On Saturday, September 13, St. Peter’s Square in the center of the Vatican will host a concert entitled “Grace for the World.” The event will feature well-known names in international music on stage, including Andrea Bocelli, Pharrell Williams and Karol G, along with other artists from different musical backgrounds.
The concert will be opened by Williams, accompanied by the Voices of Fire gospel choir, and Bocelli. Next, Karol G, the first Latin American artist to perform before the Pope, will take the stage. Other guests include Jennifer Hudson, BamBam, Clipse, Teddy Swims, Jelly Roll, and Angélique Kidjo. Alongside them will be the Choir of the Diocese of Rome directed by Marco Frisina and an international choir prepared by musician Adam Blackstone.
This is something of a novelty for the Varican: over the decades St. Peter’s Square has hosted large gatherings, solemn liturgies and encounters with crowds of pilgrims, but an artistic billboard such as this, with a global footprint, had never been seen in the Pope’s neck of the woods. But there will be more than just live music: there will also be a show featuring three thousand drones and light effects, designed by the Nova Sky Stories team and inspired by the Sistine Chapel paintings.
For those who will not be able to be in Rome, a live worldwide broadcast has been arranged. In the United States, the broadcast will be accessible for free on Hulu, Disney+ and ABC News Live platforms, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. New York time. Online registration is required to access the stream.
