8th edition of the COLUMBUS INTERNATIONAL AWARD in the name of success.
The New York Edition 2025 decrees the award of Fondazione ITALY.
The New York edition was honored by the Patronage of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Liguria Region and Patronage ACLI New York.
Another success that further consecrates the internationality of the prestigious award, after also the important editions like that of Rome at the Senate of the Republic, in Florida at the Istituto Marangoni Miami, the Brazilian one at the Rio Olympic Golf Course in Rio de Janeiro and that of Genoa in the Exhibition of Representation of Palazzo Tursi, 1500 and UNESCO heritage.
After the initial theme of the COLUMBUS, the sweet voices of Angela Bellia and Vanessa Sanna delighted the guests present in the hermitage room by plastering the hymn of Italy, stirring strong emotions and pride.
To frame a beautiful backdrop of over 2,5 meters with the sides the Italian and the American flag.
The opening was entrusted to Marilena Alescio who, after greetings, introduced Dr. Massimiliano Ferrara, founder and organizer of the COLUMBUS INTERNATIONAL AWARD and President of Fondazione ITALY, who immediately expressed gratitude for the prompt hospitality and the effective help to Don Luigi Portarulo dell’Old Saint Patrick who heads the Diocese of New York. In his speech he exalted the Italian Excellences that make us proud and that made Italy great abroad and, as Ambassador of Made in Italy, he stressed the importance of being Italian, to be unique and to be protagonists in the world.
The organiser finally thanked Ermelinda Maturo and Angela Bellia, founders of TOS – Travel On Set and the whole New York Oasis Community of Koinonia John the Baptist, at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, part of the Brooklyn Diocese, for the active help and closeness both physical and spiritual.
The event was created in collaboration with AdviceTourism – the First International Tourist Portal Without Commissions, Branca Ceramiche, GENESIS Interiors and TOS – Travel On Set and thanks to FERRARA – events & communication and UNITED International Media Partners, the International Communication and Information Channel.
Other musical intermezzos allied the present and all those who were connected in streaming with a beautiful and particular interpretation of “Skyfall” by Vanessa Sanna and closing with “ Between you and the sea” with the duet Sanna-Bellia. Involving moment with “That’s Love” accompanied by the accordion with an effervescent, engaging and very talented Sister Máire Close, who also gave, at the opening, a moment of dream, travel and transport with a particular music performed with the Irish flute, his homeland. Sister Máire Close and Sister Zuzana Almanova also took care of the English translation in real time of some moments of the ceremony.

Premio Sezione Excellence a Patronato ACLI New York, ritirato dal Direttore Stefano Marruso.
Motivation: With the competent service rendered in these long years of activity has allowed many compatriots to find assistance and the typical Italian welcome.
Premio Sezione Excellence al NIABA – National Italian American Bar Association. Il Premio è stato ritirato dalla Presidente Alice Salvo, arrivata appositamente da Los Angeles, e con Ospite Premiante l’Avv. Giampaolo Girardi, Tesoriere dell’associazione.
Motivation: For having contributed, for more than 40 years, to the formation of Italian students and lawyers in the United States of America.
Premio Sezione Excellence al NIAF – National Italian American Foundation con la seguente motivazione: Nel 50° anniversario dalla fondazione, per l’insostituibile ruolo svolto in mezzo secolo di incessante attività a sostegno e tutela della diffusione della cultura italiana negli Stati Uniti d’America. A NIAF è stata anche consegnata una bella targa ricordo appositamente giunta dall’Italia a firma del Presidente della Regioni Liguria Marco Bucci.
Premio Sezione Excellence a Fondazione E-novation con la seguente motivazione: Per l’ampia attività internazionale a difesa della Vita, della Pace e del Dialogo tra i Popoli.
Premio Sezione Amazing a Padre Claudio Antecini.Motivazione: Per il suo impegno nel promuovere le radici culturali italiane, il dialogo interculturale e la solidarietà, anche grazie alla Comunità Koinonia John the Baptist da lui diretta.
Premio Sezione Community Service a Don Luigi Portarulo, premiato dalle mani di Padre Claudio Antecini. Motivazione: Per il profuso impegno a favore della comunità cristiana italiana a New York, che può in lui trovare accoglienza in nome di nostro Signore.
Premio Sezione Media Operator a Radio WGBB. Premio consegnato anche in questo caso direttamente dal presidente Ferrara nella mani della voce della radio Attilio Carbone, molto emozionato e orgoglioso del riconoscimento ricevuto. Motivazione: Per essere la radio in lingua italiana più longeva al modo, online ininterrottamente dal 9 ottobre 1964, e per aver diffuso con il programma Melodie Italiane l’amore per l’Italia e la musica italiana.
After the photo of rite with all the winners, the event ended with the presentation of the delegation of Italian students of the film school of TOS and with a beautiful musical note by Angela Bellia who innate “Caruso” by Lucio Dalla.

The recognition rewards, in the name of Christopher Columbus, all those who have distinguished themselves, each in their own field, for spreading and/or protecting Italian culture and Italianity, whether they are institutions, associations, companies or people.
The mission of the international award is to exalt the Made in Italy, speaking and making culture at 360° both through the protagonists or the winners of the individual editions, that is, the Italian Excellences that daily fill us with pride, both when possible giving space to speakers, real historical experts, who deepen the figure of Christopher Columbus, the political situation of his time bringing to light new important and sometimes revolutionary studies, theories and even discoveries of truths.
The next event, the 9th edition, will take place in Miami, on October 23, at the Istituto Marangoni Miami, in light of the great success received in 2024, organized in collaboration with FERRARA – events & communication, UNITED International Media Partners and Casa Italia Miami. The Florida edition also enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and the Liguria Region, as well as Istituto Marangoni Miami, Com.It.Es. Miami and Accademia Italiana della Cucina – Delegation of Miami.
