EU notes improvement in U.S. aflatoxin situation

The American peanut industry has made major efforts to improve controls on exports to Europe, but aflatoxin contamination remains a problem, according to the European Commission.

An audit by DG Sante in March 2026 was planned because of regular Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) notifications for aflatoxins in peanuts imported into the EU from the United States.
