New York will have its parade for the Knicks, the first ticker-tape parade in team history, as announced by Mayor Zohran Mamdani shortly after the final siren of the meeting. The parade will start on Thursday morning, at 10 am, from Lower Manhattan, in the Battery Park area, and will go up Broadway to City Hall, crossing the Canyon of Heroes, the stretch where the city has celebrated for more than a century astronauts, presidents, military and winning teams. This time it will be up to the Knicks, who won their first NBA title on Saturday since 1973, defeating the San Antonio Spurs in Race 5.
Parade. Thursday. Manhattan.

The title arrived with a win for 94-90 and a game that has recalcated quite faithfully the history of Knicks playoffs: disadvantages to recover, finals played on possession, Jalen Brunson in charge of solving things when they are difficult. Brunson scored 45 points and was the face of a closed 4-1 series, after years when the team was more often a disappointment than a true candidate for the title. For a franchise that plays at the Madison Square Garden and that since 1973 had lived mainly expected, reconstructions and seasons ended badly, the way the victory came almost as much as victory.
No tickets will be needed to attend the parade. The fans will be able to settle down on Broadway, although the city expects many people from early morning hours. The more limited will be access to the final ceremony in City Hall, where the team will be rewarded and will receive the keys of the city. As usual for events of this type, Lower Manhattan will have street closures, bus deviations and possible restrictions on the entrances of some metro stations close to the route.
On the evening of June 18, City Hall and other municipal buildings will be lit with blue and orange. Mayor Zohran Mamdani presented the parade as the most New York way to close a long wait more than half a century: confetti, crowds and a team brought along Broadway. For the Knicks it will be a new celebration, although the city knows the rite well. For New York, however, it will be one of those days when sport comes out of the building and becomes a much wider thing, occupying streets, offices, metros and conversations.
