Ill food handler caused outbreak despite following protocols

A sick food handler likely contaminated items served at an event in Australia despite preparing food after symptoms had stopped, according to researchers.

An outbreak of gastrointestinal illness was reported among people at a private function in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) in 2024. The organizer reported to ACT Health that 20 people at the catered function had become sick, but dozens more reported illnesses.
