New law in Oklahoma increases sales of unpasteurized, raw milk

Oklahoma dairies can now sell more than 10 times the amount of raw, unpasteurized milk directly to consumers.

Gov. Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 2028 into law in late May. The new law raises the monthly cap on direct raw milk sales from 100 gallons to 1,500 gallons and allows producers to advertise raw milk products sold on-farm. Raw milk sales must still occur at the farm where the milk is produced. It cannot be sold in retail settings or farmers markets.

The Republican governor is a strong supporter of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Health Again movement. Kennedy has often pushed raw milk as a healthy choice despite its known dangers.
