Nutella Unveils First New Flavour in 60 Years

After months of speculation and sustained social media buzz, Nutella has officially introduced its first flavour innovation in more than 60 years: Nutella Peanut. The product is now available all over the USA, marking a pivotal moment for one of the world’s most recognisable spreads.

The new variant combines Nutella’s signature creamy hazelnut base with the rich, roasted taste of peanuts, delivering what the company describes as a long-awaited evolution of a household staple.

Noah Szporn, senior vice president of spreads at Ferrero North America, highlighted the brand’s ambition and cultural momentum behind the launch. “Honestly, when a jar of Nutella goes viral floating in space, you start to feel like anything is possible,” he said.

The introduction is a strategic shift for the brand, which has remained largely unchanged since its debut in 1964. By launching Nutella Peanut, the company is entering new product territory while preserving the texture and indulgent experience that has defined its global appeal.

Szporn added: “Naturally, our next move as a brand was dropping our first new flavour innovation in over 60 years. Nutella Peanut delivers the same creamy experience fans know and love, now blended with the irresistible taste of roasted peanuts.”

Designed for versatility, the new spread aims to integrate seamlessly into everyday consumption habits. Its smooth consistency makes it suitable for a range of uses, from sandwiches and toast to fruit pairings, positioning it as a strong contender for regular pantry inclusion.

Since its creation in Italy in 1964, Nutella has expanded into a global phenomenon, now sold in approximately 160 countries. Its parent company, Ferrero—founded in 1946 in Alba, Italy—has grown into one of the largest players in the sweet-packaged food sector. With a portfolio of more than 35 brands and a presence in over 170 countries, Ferrero continues to leverage its heritage while pursuing innovation-driven growth.
