Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO delivered a strong first-half performance in 2025, with production rising 12.8% to over 2 million kilograms, up from 1.8 million in the same period last year. The pre-sliced packaged segment saw an even sharper increase, soaring 65% from 130,000 kg in the first half of 2024 to 215,000 kg in 2025.
Exports increased by 24% between January and May, driven by significant gains in key markets including the UK (+169%), Austria (+39%), Germany (+28%), the Netherlands (+18%), and Switzerland (+10%).
Paolo Beretta, president of the Cacciatore Italiano PDO Consortium, attributed the surge to shifting consumer habits and targeted promotion. “This is the first time we have seen such a notable double-digit growth in the pre-sliced segment,” he said. “The product’s convenience and quality make it increasingly popular for snacks, light meals, and on-the-go consumption.”
Beretta also highlighted the impact of a three-year, EU-funded promotional campaign focused on retail and foodservice channels in markets such as the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. “The export growth we’re seeing is a clear sign the campaign is working.”
Germany remains the largest export market for Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO, accounting for 49% of overseas sales, followed by Switzerland, the UK, Belgium and Austria.
