Scientists flag mycotoxin risk in plant-based products

Testing of plant-based meat alternatives and beverages in the United Kingdom has revealed all products contained at one least one mycotoxin.

Researchers investigated the occurrence of 19 mycotoxins in 212 plant-based products collected from retail in the UK, including plant-based beverages and meat alternatives. All products sampled were contaminated by mycotoxin, with frequent co-occurrence.
