Enrico Caruso’s voice resounds in New York. More than a century after his historic debut at the Metropolitan Opera, the city that consecrated him to myth will host the fifth edition of the Caruso Tribute Prize, conceived by Dante Mariti and produced by Melos International.
On Tuesday, October 14th, at 18.00, a great gala will be held at the Italian American Museum, an event that will join music, awards and the presence of exceptional guests. The evening will take place with the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy and the Comites of New York.
The protagonists
As a godmother, the sorrentine Veronica Maya, a beloved face of Italian television, will lead the evening together with journalist Rai Nicola Santini. Among the winners are the names of great prestige: the queen of the opera soprano Katia Ricciarelli; the famous entrepreneur Santo Versace; Don Luigi Portarulo rector of the Old Saint Patrick Basilica; Joseph Scelsa, President and founder of the Italian American Museum; Silvana Mangione (Vice Secretary CGIE); the young tenor Alessandro Lora as the new talent of Crossover; the president of the Comites Enrico Zanon; the lyric tenor of Campania Nicola Pisaniello ambassador of the beautiful song in the world; Germana Valentini, a TV author and Italian writer with a deep experience in culture, gastronomic heritage and the Italian-American community.
Germana Valentini, the Neapolitan singer Federica Raimo and the law firm of Elia Alaia and Lucia Casaburo, a reference point for the Italian-American community. He also awards Francesca Pascale, for his commitment to civil rights, and in Ornella Fado, television celebrity in NY, with his program “Briniamo!” arrived at the twentieth edition.
To enrich the show, also the participation of soprano Chiara Cremaschi, of showgirl Tanya La Gatta, of Spanish singer Amalia.
The mission of the award “The Caruso Tribute Prize is much more than a recognition – says the creator and producer Dante Mariti –. It is a bridge between Italy and America, an opportunity to reward the excellences that have been able to stand out in different areas: from opera to cinema, from entrepreneurship to social, to art and science”.
In the past editions they received the award artists and personalities such as the tenors Fabio Armiliato and Gianluca Terranova, the actor Armand Assante, Gianni Russo de Il Padrino, and on Christian Di Sanzo. This year, the award takes on an even more special value thanks to the creation of the artist Rosa Maria Raffaele, who has created a refined polychrome ceramic sculpture in relief, in limited edition.
