In New York there is waiting for the 54th edition of the city marathon, scheduled tomorrow, Sunday 2 November. Approximately 50,000 participants will run along the 42,195 kilometers between Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Manhattan, while hundreds of thousands of people are expected at the edge of the route. The event is considered one of the main international marathons and, for many runners, one of the most challenging among the great world events of the sports calendar.
The route will include the departure from Staten Island, the crossing of Brooklyn and Queens, the entrance to Manhattan from Queensboro Bridge, the passage into the Bronx and the return to Manhattan to Central Park, where the finish line is located. The total length of the route is 42,195 kilometers. The busiest points will be along First Avenue in Manhattan and the Atlantic Terminal area in Brooklyn.

The departures are organized in waves to avoid congestion in the initial phase of the race. The first route will be at 8 am with competitions reserved for wheelchair categories, followed by female and male elites, and then by amateur groups distributed throughout the morning.
In order to facilitate the pedestrian crossings, also this year there were dedicated points along the route, managed by volunteers. The passage zones will be active at specific times, only when the transit of athletes allows it. The main areas identified are:

On the logistic front, the stock exchanges was confirmed on Central Park West between 69th and 70th Street in the days before the race. The organization confirmed the use of a single official app to provide updates, track functions of athletes and real-time information. The integrated streaming service will allow you to fully follow the professional races.
As for the circulation, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will remain closed for the entire morning, with reopening scheduled in the afternoon. Other roads in the five districts will gradually reopen from the early hours of the evening, while the runners who finish the test later will be required to proceed on the sidewalk.
The event will be broadcast live national and local television on different channels: on ESPN2 and ESPN3, in Spanish, from 8:00 to 11:30; on ABC/WABC-TV Channel 7 (New York Area) from 7:00 to 13:00, and score on the finish line from 10:30 to 18:00; on ABC national live from 15:00 to 17:00, as well as available via streaming through the official app.
