Between 13 and 15 April 2026 the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò of New York University hosts a series of meetings dedicated to literary translation within the tenth edition of the Bridge Book Award. The program, distributed in several academic and cultural locations of the city, brings together authors, translators, editors and scholars to discuss practices, difficulties and perspectives of contemporary translation and promote the circulation of literature between Italy and the USA. The initiative is promoted in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, the Italian Unitary Federation Writers and several university institutes of the City University of New York circuit, including The Graduate Center, CUNY, Hunter College and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute.
For April 14, from 15:30 to 17:00, the meeting “Poetry Exploring Poetry”, dedicated to poetic translation is scheduled. The panel sees the participation of poet and translator Carmen Gallo, professor at the University of Sapienza in Rome, and translator Patrizio Ceccagnoli, linked to the University of Kansas and the Italian Poetry Review. The meeting is moderated by Isabella Livorni and takes place in English.
The event cycle is part of a broader program entitled “Art and Craft in Translation: Meetings and Dialogues on Literary Translation”, curated by Maria Ida Gaeta, with the collaboration of Civitella Ranieri Foundation, the American Academy in Rome and Rizzoli Bookstore. The Bridge Book Award, in its ten editions, supported the promotion of about 200 titles and funded the translation of 40 works between Italian and English, contributing to the spread of Italian literature in the United States and vice versa.
