Tonight Maestro Stefano Miceli directs Mozart’s Requiem in St. Patrick’s Cathedral

After more than thirty years of absence, Mozart’s Requiem will return tonight to vibrate under the neo-Gothic vaults of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He will be led by Maestro Stefano Miceli, conductor and pianist of international fame, at the head of the New York Academy Orchestra, the choir Clarum Sonum of New Jersey and a group of soloists worldwide.

The event, very close to the New York public, is a co-production between the Miceli Arts Foundation and the Diocese of Saint Patrick, and is one of the most significant events of the American musical season.

Miceli, who has lived and worked in New York for over a decade, has made music a universal language of dialogue between Italy and the United States. On the stage, next to him, also the Venetian mezzo-soprano Valeria Girardello, born star of international opera, at its official debut in the Big Apple.

The performance of the Requiem, the last and unfinished work of Mozart, is not only an artistic event but also a message of hope and rebirth. In an era marked by divisions, the music of Salzburg’s genius returns to remember that beauty remains a universal language, capable of combining different cultures, generations and faiths under one shared emotion.

On the occasion of the concert, the New York published a new episode of the podcast Portraits by Claudio Brachino, with an exclusive interview with Stefano Miceli. The Master recounts his human and artistic journey, the link with Italy and the cultural mission that once again brings him to resound Mozart in the heart of Manhattan.
