Scientists have identified certain antimicrobial resistance traits likely to spread through China’s food chain over the next 25 years.
Research by King’s College London and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) analyzed genetic traits linked to antimicrobial resistance in drug-resistant Salmonella across China’s food chain.
China is one of the largest producers and consumers of meat, so understanding how Salmonella and its resistance genes move through the chain could have implications for global food safety, said scientists.
